A tevékenység leírása:

A Derry-i Tower múzeumot látogattuk meg a délelőtt folyamán, ahol az őskortól mutatták be nekünk a város történelmét interaktív módon. Nekem különösen tetszett ez a kiállítás, talán ez volt az egyik legjobb az eddig meglátogatottak közül, de nem tudnék választani, mert mindegyikben más tetszett. Az ebédet egy igen hangulatos helyen, a Lengenderry Warehouse Cafe-ban fogyasztottuk el, amelyről több projekt munka is készült. A helyzet adta lehetőségből kifolyólag hanganyagot is rögzítettem Michael Mango-val, akinek a neve utal a foglakozására is. Michael egy Amerikából származó szakács és Derry-ben valósítja meg álmait. Szervezi a kis étterem életét, gondoskodik az árubeszerzésről, a heti étlapról, működteti a kerti grillt és felelős az étterembe látogatók jó hangulatáért. Minőségi étel és minőségi kiszolgálást biztosít. A kis étterem Derry-ben működő helyi ajándékbolttal együttműködve őrzi a város hírnevét egy neo-avantgarde stílusban. A délutánt hazai ételkülönlegességek készítésével töltöttük az esti Food Competition NWA által szervezett házi vetélkedőjére. Mi magyarok két csapattal indultunk. Az egyik csapat magyar „katonákat” – Organic PusztaTreats -  (mini szendvicseket) készített, még a másik Gundel palacsintával – Choco Roll Delight - rukkolt elő. A verseny folyamán egyik csapatunk sem nyert, azonban nagyon jól éreztük magunkat, a részvétel számunkra sokkal többet jelentett, már csak azért is mert más országból érkezett, hasonló EU-s projektek résztvevőivel találkozhattunk és beszélgethettünk.

Tanult kompetenciák: Az oktatás szempontjából a tanulási formák megválasztása sokféle lehet. Egy-egy új ötlet, meglepő vagy innovatív tartalmak gyakran eredményeznek effektívebb tudás elsajátítást. A különböző témák összekapcsolására az egy cél érdekében történő transzformálásra jó példát láthattunk a Legenderry Warehouse Cafe-ban. Erről a projekt honlapon található több információ.

Day 3

Today we had multiple sessions about the projects of our host, the North West Academy. They presented us with 5 different projects, some of them are still ongoing. The first was MobGae, which implemented a huge survey of intra-EU mobility experiences of 2,500 participants, share good practices, and to track the positive changes in the participants. As valuable the project’s aim is, sadly I cannot imagine such a project to be implemented with Hungarian coordination because I don’t think there is currently an educational organization large enough to deal with the large amount of data involved. It would first require a capable IT infrastructure to organize this, and sadly such expertise is not sought for and doesn’t seem profitable today. With all my experiences gained during my professional career as an IT business consultant, I will definitely think about similar ideas.

The next project presented was called Coach4Me, which involved the support of mobility program participants from the rather new coaching perspective – which is also quite new in Hungary and starting to spread in the business life in Hungary in the last cca. 5 years. I think the experiences of this project could be implemented with much less ease with the involvement of coaching experts in the country.

Another interesting project was the Becult Open, which provides very useful basic cultural information and language lessons about various countries where mobility program participants might want moving to and / or start working (sectors including tourism, car mechanic, catering, etc. and countries including the UK, Finland, Germany, Estonia, etc.) The site is growing even today involving more countries and more levels of language skills (from A1 to B2), and the site is open for everyone to use, so I will definitely advertise this to all those in Hungary who may be concerned.

2nd October, Thursday

The day starts again with a meeting. We form 4 groups, each equipped with a „Town Quiz” sheet and start discovering the city. I think the best way of knowing your place is to walk, identify the cornerstones, landmarks, outstanding buildings, and this is exactly what we do. The tour is not just about the completion of tasks, counting the steps on Peace Bridge, or finding interesting features at the top of the tower of the Guild Hall, but getting to know your group members as well, talking about their personal lives, their families, their success or their overcoming difficulties. I find this project task extremely useful and fun at the same time. We laugh a lot, take pictures, record short videos, and make interviews as it can be followed at the MeetViaVET website. I understand that I need to learn a lot to update my knowledge in using ICT multimedia tools. My objective in this project is to learn to use innovative methods, develop my technological skills, study VET models, on-line activities, all-in-all, competence based teaching. In the afternoon we have our first session at NWA about the NWA protocol with Chris McGowan. Also, important facts-knowledge about the host organisation, and some emergency facts.
